  • Kailua Farmers Market by the Hawaiʻi Farm Bureau — Thursday, October 1, 4:00–7:00 p.m. Find the market at the Kailua Town Center parking lot by Longs/CVS and UFC Gym. Shop island-grown produce, flowers, baked goods, and prepared foods from local growers and vendors. Market hours and vendor information.
  • Kailua Neighborhood Board No. 31 regular meeting — Thursday, October 1, 7:00–10:00 p.m. The in-person meeting is at the Kailua District Park Multipurpose Room, 21 South Kainalu Drive. Residents can attend to hear updates and take part in public discussion; check the City’s meeting page for the agenda and any updates. City meeting listing and agenda.
  • Uloha Kailua Half Marathon & 5K — Sunday, October 4; half marathon at 5:30 a.m., 5K at 6:30 a.m. The race starts and finishes on the northeast side of Kailua Beach Park, behind Kalapawai Market, and runs through Kailua and Lanikai. Honolulu’s approved event schedule lists lane closures from about 5:00 to 10:00 a.m. along the course, so drivers should plan ahead. Race details · City road-use information.
  • KailuaTown Farmers Market — Sunday, October 4, 8:00 a.m.–noon. FarmLovers Markets hosts its Sunday Kailua market at 640 Ulukahiki Street, near Adventist Health Castle. Stop by for local produce, food, flowers, and small-business finds. FarmLovers Markets schedule.

  • YMCA of Honolulu opens new Kailua infant, toddler and preschool center. A traditional Hawaiian blessing marked the opening of the YMCA’s new early-learning center at St. John Lutheran Church on Kailua Road. The center offers full-day care and early learning for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, preserving local access to childcare after Le Jardin moved its preschool program; enrollment is open.   • Kailua board challenges Kapaa Quarry as a possible landfill site. Hoodline reports that Kailua Neighborhood Board members said four locations they reviewed—including the north and south portions of Kapaa Quarry—conflict with Hawaiʻi’s landfill siting rules under Act 73. The board’s view does not decide whether a site can be permitted, but it adds a significant community and legal issue for the City to address as it searches for a successor to the Waimānalo Gulch landfill.
